James Schramko here. I want to share with you the best place for your notes – and a tip – it’s not in your head. As entrepreneurs, we got a lot of stimulus, we got a lot of inputs. We’re reading things, we’re watching things, we’re observing our competitors, we’re working with our team. There’s a lot going on. The best place for all these ideas and thoughts is not in your head.
We need to clear our brains. We need to purge that cache on our neck top computer. We need to get it out. So, I like to put it on a whiteboard or onto a piece of paper and just get it out of the head, clear the cache. And from there, you can start prioritizing and ordering them into what’s going to get you the highest impact. And at least once it’s written down, take a picture of it. Stick it into the cloud. It’s there. You don’t have to worry about it, and now you can use your brain for full processing power to be present in the moment and work on what’s needing work right now.
So, whatever system you use, it’s good. Eventually, after you’ve got your temporary notes, I do suggest that you put your ultimate important things into either some kind of project management system or a spreadsheet. Something nice and simple or a post-it note on your computer or reminder on your whiteboard. It doesn’t matter. But the main thing is get it out of your head and get it into a sort of draft mode, a scratch pad, and then clean it up and just put the important stuff where you need to. And the rest you can get to later or maybe never, which is more likely.
