James Schramko here. Today, I’m going to say thank you. I was recording a podcast recently with a friend of mine. And I was relaying a story of a very difficult time I had when I was employed. I had a particularly difficult boss, this boss was actually batshit crazy. And it’s important for me to recognize that the difficult times this boss caused me, shaped me and shaped my future.
He showed me the exact opposite of what to do as a leader. He also gave me some very good insights and I was able to remove out or edit the bad things. So I kept the good and edited out the bad. So as I became a leader beyond that, I think I was a better boss for the people I led because I’d seen the worst. The same for a customer or two that I’ve had in time, you know, when I had a service agency, there were the occasional customers that weren’t ideal, and I need to thank them for showing me what a good customer looks like, for setting the boundaries and the filters enabling me to deal with fantastic customers now.
So to my old crazy boss and to my occasional strange customer, I just want to say thank you and I used those experiences to grow. And if you’re watching this and you’re having a difficult time right now, just remember these are the times that shape you. Good habits are bred in difficult times, and that’s what will make you a better person in the future. As my grandmother taught me when I learned to paint, you cannot have light without shade. So when you get the shade or the dark sides, celebrate it. It’s only a matter of time until it balances out.
I’m James Schramko. I hope you’ve enjoyed this. If it’s even remotely inspirational, be sure to comment or share where you see this video.
