James here, and I’m just waiting for somebody out at the shops here in the Philippines. One of my team members came over last night and he showed me this fantastic program called Fastest Cars on Netflix, and we watched a few episodes. And in the episodes, they put three sleepers which are ordinary-looking cars that go really fast against one supercar. And in the first few episodes that I watched, most of the time the car that should have won the race, that potentially was the fastest, would actually break down and have to default from the race. And the supercar would often win because all the owner has to do with that is wash it and set the auto start off the line, and win the race consistently.
So the lesson here really is, with your business, get the good solutions that are as close to out-of-the-box as possible, so that you only have to wash it and use the features that are built into it, instead of trying to put together some kind of Frankenstein on a budget, that may or may not be wildly successful or completely fail you. And I thought that was a really great metaphor.
So hopefully, this was a fun tip for you today. Get stuff out of the box, keep it as close to the normal spec as possible, and have less headaches.
