Accounting, an interesting subject, right? Camry drivers, cardigan wearers. Look, I can talk about accounting because I used to study accounting. It’s one of the courses I did when I left school. And I used to work on Fridays in an accounting office. Now, I didn’t complete my accounting studies because around that time, there was a recession. And I had to go and get a full-time job in debt collection.
Now, recently on the James Schramko podcast, I had a chat with Meryl. And Meryl has a business called Bean Ninjas. And we talked about how she, as an accountant, was able to find a lucrative part of the market. And she was able to narrow her focus on that market and then productized her services, and then expand upon that with information products and revenue share deals. Also in that journey, she had a baby and she also changed from a partnership to taking over control and switching partners in that business. So it was a fascinating discussion. So what would ordinarily be a fairly dry subject of accounting is really instructive.
