James here, and today I am making a roast. The thing with the roast, it actually reminds me of this story of a lady who used to cut the ends off the roast when she was making the roast. And one day, her daughter asked, “Why? Why do you cut the ends off?” and she said, “I don’t know. My mom used to cut the ends off the roast.” so they called their mom, grandma, up in the nursing home. And they said, “Grandma, why do you cut the ends off the roast?” And she said, “Sweetheart, that’s the only way it would fit in the pan.”
So the moral of this story is, don’t just do things the way they’ve always been done. Sometimes you have to do things a different way, and you’ll be able to make that innovation turn into a great win. For example, if you had a big enough pan you wouldn’t have to cut the ends off the roast, so it’s less work, easier result, and now we’re on to a new way of doing things. Because we do this one technique that I love to do, and that is question everything. Just question, why are we doing it this way? What else could we try instead? Maybe if we approach this from a new angle, we could come up with a better outcome.
Anyway, I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s tip, and I’m going to go now and enjoy my roast.
