James: James Schramko here from SuperFastBusiness.com. I’m here with John Lint from 10XPRO.io. Good day, John!
John: Hey, how are you, James?
James: Good, thank you. Always here chatting about memberships and courses and building funnels online because you have the platform at 10XPRO.io that makes that very easy. That being said, when you start out thinking, I’m going to create an information product, there are quite a few steps. And we’ve been through a lot of the steps on these short videos. But I’m wondering how you deal with and what you advise for people when they say, John, I’ve just got a lot on my mind now, you know, this thing in my head is expanding into a big project and I’m feeling overwhelmed with it. How would you advise them to step through the program, and where do you think they should focus first?
John: Yeah, I mean, we all go through that, you know, we want to build a business, we want to have a successful launch. And we want to create a new online course. And then we think about how we’re going to do it. And we start listing down a bunch of things.
And of course, it’s going to be a huge list, there’s a ton of things that we need to do, we need to create videos, we need to post them we need to promote our content, we need to write copy, write email, set up the funnels, all of that stuff.
James: Woah, woah. Hey, easy there.
John: So that is actually normal. It’s like, you know, the guy who wants to run a marathon. Yeah, it’s 42 kilometers. it’s a long way right? So if you think about the finish line, or even the journey, at the beginning, is going to be overwhelming. It’s going to be like, well, this is too much. The reality is that while it starts about, of course, taking your first step about prioritizing the task, me personally and you know, that’s something that we do as part of the development of 10XPRO.
I mean if you think about 10XPRO.io, what did we build? We haven’t built it in a week or two, this has been in production for over five years, you know? A ton of investments from money investment to obviously time investment in team and resources, all of that. We have a ton of features, a ton of things that you can do. So obviously all of that didn’t happen just overnight.
And we certainly didn’t start by saying we want all of that. We said hey, what’s the most important thing to do right now? And I think that’s the most important question. That’s what I asked myself as well, even when I’m thinking about which products should I promote? What course should I create first? This one or that one? Well, which one is going to bring me money the fastest? Which one is going to work the fastest? Which one can I create the fastest? You know, can I maybe do the videos in 15 minutes, rather than another one that I need to really research and maybe interview people? Obviously, that’s going to take more time.
So at the end of the day, it’s all about baby steps. It’s all about the cliches that you might have heard about, do one thing at a time. But it’s really that. It’s about okay, let’s not look at the mountain, the top of the mountain, let’s just put our head down, look at the road, you know. If you’re going to be climbing Mount Everest, you’re not going to be looking all the time at the peak, that’s just going to be crazy and you’re going to be like, Man, I’m never gonna make it. You just look down, okay, one step at a time.
Also, the great thing with our business as an online business is that you can get help, right? You can do your whole list, it can be very overwhelming, do the things that you can do the fastest that are going to work for you the fastest. But you know, the things that Hey, I’m not really good at that, I’m going to waste so much time to do that thing, or maybe find, you know, other experts that can help you. And that’s something that we do as part of 10XPRO.io. We have what we call the suppliers market, where you know, we help some of our members who, you know, they want to focus on the creating the product part, right? They want to be creating the value, creating the videos for the course. But they don’t want so much to set up, like I said, you know, the emails, or the pages or the funnels.
So for that we obviously have suppliers and experts in their fields that can help. So it’s all about kind of building your team. And you talk a lot about this James about building your own team. And that can be a team of contractors that are going to work on this specific project like a once off, it can be on an ongoing basis, or can be about building your own kind of team that you train for the long term of your business. And I think that would be some of the key things just to remember.
When you are overwhelmed, when you’re thinking about, well, I don’t know if I can make it, there’s just too much, well, just dumb it down. Let’s break it down, Let’s just do one thing at a time and the hard stuff, find help, get tools, get people to help you with that. And the overwhelm usually happens at the beginning. You think, Oh man, too much. But as you start to get going, you kind of want to Hey, I want to do the next thing. So that’s almost like a game, like playing video games. Okay, I spent an hour in that level, fine. I’m just going to do the next level, just one more level.
So in our business, we can use that strategy as well about, okay, I’m going to have maybe 10 videos to create for that course. It’s a lot, maybe each video is I don’t know, 10 minutes, I don’t know. And it can be a lot. Just the one. And you will see that after you do the first one you think, okay, that wasn’t so bad. Let’s do the second one. And let’s see how many I can do in the day. So these are a couple of strategies. Hopefully, that helps out a little bit if you’re listening to that video.
James: Yeah, they’re really helpful. I’m thinking in terms of the marathon. If you know that marathon is coming, then you know, well, at least start with putting your shoes on, and then start by running around the block. And then go two blocks, and then three blocks, and then four blocks and get some help with someone on what you’re supposed to eat. And then upgrade your shoes to some nice, new shoes when you’re getting closer to the event. By the time the marathon comes you’re quite comfortable running a similar distance. And you’ve put in that work, your fitness has improved, you’ve had the time that it takes to get going. And then you can get in the race. And once you’re set, once it’s actually done and run, then doing another one’s much easier.
It’s like my business now, SuperFastBusiness.com, I just add one training per month, and it’s very sustainable. And I can keep selling the membership. And people can actually access all the old trainings as well, because it’s in place. So I guess it’s like building a house or doing a marathon. It will never be harder than that first setup phase. Once you’re set up, you’re in motion.
And another thing I found when I was building my membership was I actually started with next to no content. Very little content, I think people probably think the project is actually bigger than what it is. And that mentally defeats them before they even start. So think about what is the absolute minimum version of it that you could publish? What’s the least version of a sales page? Like I’ve actually witnessed this.
Recently, you and I were chatting, I was talking to a client of mine. And I said, Hey, Caleb, was his name. I said, Why don’t you use 10XPRO? And he said, What’s 10XPRO? I said, well, imagine you take the best of breed products in the marketplace that are out there. Your typical programs like ClickFunnels, Kajabi, Kartra, LearnDash, Udemy, all these things. And then you actually just made a really good solution that did all of those things. And you just plug in your autoresponder, you plug in your PayPal or your Stripe or both, write a bit of a sales page and then hook up your deliverables and away you go. And he said, Really, that sounds intriguing. So I said, Why don’t you have a chat to John? He had a chat with you and when I woke up the next day, he’d already done the sales page, put in his autoresponder, hooked together the payment system, put the deliverable, even had his own domain name.
This all happened while I was asleep in one night. I mean, that’s how quickly it can be if you’re ready to roll and you’ve got a sense of what you want to offer people, and how they can actually get the deliverable. Now, I don’t think he had a whole lot of deliverable done because he’s going to be delivering it over time. So I’ve seen people do this in one night. I know for a fact that, you know, even if it took you a week, or a month, and you’re still stuck with it, then you’re going to have a membership or a product that you don’t have today. So just start.
Do the first steps. And usually, we talked about that, it’s really understanding what the market wants to buy from you. And if you have no clue how to do that, John, you and I put together a course. And it’s called OnlineCourseSystem.com.
John: Yeah.
James: And it actually steps through all the steps. So you can actually put all the bits to the side and just focus on one milestone at a time. And if you go through one at a time, you’ll end up having completed a membership or product and you’ll be ready to roll.
John: Yeah, exactly. I mean, it’s a detailed, step-by-step which guide you through the whole process. You get the tool, you mentioned 10XPRO, you’re going to get six months access to that. So if you’re interested, you can check it out! OnlineCourseSystem.com.
James: And you get John. Which I think is the greatest thing of all! Like, you’re the world’s foremost expert on 10XPRO membership software. You’ve got a used case sample at your disposal of who’s doing it well, which ones look great, who’s set it up correctly, who’s getting the results, it’s all at your fingertips. And you’ve got these suppliers now who are doing everything from design to actually logging in and putting your pages in there for you. Like, really you can’t miss.
John: Yeah, I mean, you know, if you are an action-taker, you have a great idea, now there’s no more excuses. You know, you have pretty much everything. I mean, we try to package as much as possible in there. And you know, I think that with that course that you and I created James is pretty awesome. So, you know, I think it’s all about, do you have what it takes to take action and go through with your idea and, you know, just do it step-by-step and you’ll get there, so for sure.
James: That’s it. Well, that’s pretty much how to melt through your membership or product like hot knife through butter.
Thanks, John for sharing. I really appreciate it as always. We’ll catch you on a future episode.
John: Thank you.
