James Schramko here with an internet marketing news update.
This is a really important episode. I want to talk about something I’m passionate about. In this episode I’m going to talk about what you can do to really get ahead for next year but also some things I’ve observed that I think cause people to not be successful. And if you make this change now, you can have a much better year. I’ll also give you a video marketing tip and how to do some survey stuff without being a survey as such.
I had a lady contact me recently and she’s been spending money all year with other people and has not seen a single dollar come back. When I looked at her behaviour I think she just keeps going for that dream; that hope. There are so many people out there who are happy to sell this dribble but when you go beyond it you’ve got to have a business knowledge. That’s what we talk about in SuperFastBusiness.com all the time.
What most people should be doing is taking away things.
Taking things out, not adding things in. If you keep piling up your emails one after the other from market after market, if you keep buying and buying and buying and stacking up your credit card, it just compounds that desperation. It just adds to the debt and the frustration. Makes you try and dig even harder to get a thing but you’re just not going to get there. You won’t get a result unless you change what you’re doing. So stop all these marketer’s emails. Turn your inbox back to nothing.
I just ran a training on this called Inbox Relief in SuperFastBusiness.
The training’s going to be available right there for all members. This is the key to it. Get your inbox down and start creating. Start actually watching some of the courses you’ve purchased, participate in SuperFastBusiness and learn how to run a real business and stop chasing these silly shortcut instant riches dreams that don’t pan out. And remember, as my friend John Romaine said recently in one of his videos, watch what they do not what they say because that’s a big fault. Marketers are out there pushing this and pushing that. They’re not actually doing it themselves, what they’re doing is selling it to you so that they can make money. That’s not good enough.
So this poor lady who rang up, I said, “Stop what you’re doing.” Just go back to the last five things you bought find the one that resonates with you and implement. Get stuff done. On the same theme of simplification, I actually have less things now and I’m happy about it. I’m filming this in bare feet. I’m not even wearing shoes. (Don’t tell anyone) But the point is I’ve got my favourite camera here, I’ve got my favourite microphone here and that’s my simple process. I film, I produce, I upload. There are less fancy transitions now. I do it myself. I have a nice simple procedure that I like and I’m able to video every day.
Now here’s my video tip.
Export in 1280 x 720. If you’re doing screen capture videos, screen capture in 1280 x 720 resolution on your screen, edit in 1280 x 720, export in 1280 x 720. You’ll get a nice high definition output, it’s a manageable file size even on my slow internet and it’ll look fantastic. You’ll get no data degradation. Plus if people have high speed internet then they’ll get served a nice high definition version. So your content looks good.
This is how you survey without “surveying as such.”
What you do is you ask people for comments or to hit reply in your emails. When I send out emails, my emails always say, “Hit reply, I answer emails personally.” In this video, I can ask you something. I’m actually going to ask you right now a question and I’d love you to answer it right where this video is. If you could just please reply to my video and say what will you be removing, stopping or eliminating or taking out of your life as a result of this video?
When everyone else in January stacking on their new year’s resolutions, and adding all these things that they’re not going to get done, because you can’t just add things like that. What I suggest you do is remove. I treat December as my planning month; I treat January as my implementing the least possible things to get the maximum possible result. So what will you be removing, stopping or eliminating as a result of watching this video?
That’s my way of surveying my audience. I want to know what you think because I’m the one creating the information and I want to make sure that it’s just right for you next year. And I’m sure your comments will help other viewers.
If you’re not inside SuperFastBusiness.com, get inside there. It is the place to be. We’re almost at 500 members if you can believe that. It’s amazing! What a fantastic year it’s been.
I’ll catch up with you next week.

Hello James
Never commented on your stuff before.
Just wanted to say thank you for this particular video for it’s honesty; really big thumbs up.
Thank you
James Schramko says
awesome Ian – thank you and this is appreciated!
John says
Next 6 months will be less work on development (traffic, webapps, conversions, systems) and more on fulfilment (recruitment, training, increasing throughput velocity). Thanks James.

an awesome 6 months coming up for you John!

Hi James, you’re absolutely right! Once you find tools that support what you need to do, we need to stop chasing the next big thing. Simply having ‘more’ does not make your business necessarily stronger. So, to answer your question: I have chosen to only ‘follow’ 3 of my favourite gurus – of which you are one of them :) – and stop literally wasting my time reading and listening to everything else. it can burn through my time even though I have a natural eagerness to learn. Thanks James. BTW blessings to you and your family over this Christmas/New Year period.
James Schramko says
Angela well done! and thank you

I already run my business “lean and mean” – but I guess I could say I’m going to eliminate some of the things on my plate by outsourcing several tasks. That will bed huge – and will help me take my biz to the next level.
