I’m now going to go over exactly how I get email conversions from the content. And so, I call this the Three Jabs Strategy.
And so, this is a system to convert content-driven traffic into leads. A lot of people here probably know about content upgrades. So you’re offering something of more value on the actual post. But the most successful form of content upgrade I’ve ever seen work is a utility content upgrade. And I’m going to go over some examples of that in a second.
So this is based on a strategy that I used for a company to take their email leads from 3,000 a month to 10,000 per month. This wasn’t creating any new content. What I did is, this particular company was getting 150,000 visits per month to their blog only. I went to Google Analytics and looked at what all the top traffic posts were, the top 50. And then what I did was I implemented this Three Jabs Strategy on it on the top 50 posts, and the emails went from 3,000 to 10,000 a month over five months by doing this. So if you have a lot of existing traffic already on your blog, this is going to work really well for you. This strategy scales as your traffic scales.
So the Three Jabs Strategy is, you have like your Greatest Hits Content over on the left. You’re driving traffic to that content, which I’m going to show you how to do in a second. And then you have, I call it WCU, CCU and ECU. So WCU stands for Welcome Content Upgrade. CCU stands for Contextual Content Upgrade and ECU stands for Exit Content Upgrade. I’m going to show examples of these. And so this is an overview of how it works.
And now, the actual content upgrades I’m using, I have mentioned utility content upgrades, so here’s an example. Like, I have a post here that’s about how to plan content. And it’s about going over an editorial calendar. And so the perfect content upgrade here is like, an editorial calendar template, because someone downloads that and now they’re using that every day, because it’s something they can now use in their day to day for their own content.
Another one here is like, I’m talking about how to write content using a website content template I use. And so the perfect content upgrade here is like, the actual content template I use, breaking down by sections. Now people can use that to go write their content. Every time they have a new piece of content they want to write, they go and use that.
And then how to promote content. So after people read through a really long post, like a strategy post, and they’re looking at it, step by step how I did this strategy to promote this piece of content, they’re probably going to want some sort of checklist they can give to their team that they can use ongoing like week to week. And so this is stuff that people are going to remember you for, because they are going to start using this in their business day to day. And it also converts really well because it has utility.
