A nice, well laid out, easy to consume summary of the negative types of links that website and business owners should not be seeking. Some of these are a little old-school and may have worked a year or two ago, but it is surprising how many people are still convinced that these link building techniques work! Thanks James, much appreciated!

Hi James. As well as guest articles on high authority and relevant websites, is it still OK to do blog commenting on high ranking (i.e. PR3+) sites with a signature link back to my new post – if my comment is relevant to the actual article content, and provides value for other readers? I have been trying to do 1 guest article + 3 blog comments per piece of new content on my own site (as per OTR…). And regarding submissions to free online directories – if they are a PR of 4 or 5 – is that OK?

I dont focus on PR I focus on real conversations like this one here. It is relevant and obviously human. BTW – Disqus is a great marketing tool because people can click on your profile and see your comments etc…
