The other training relating to leadership is you got to hire right. Hiring is critical. It’s like the 80-20. If you spec the role right, if you have a great recruitment process, and then you get the right person in the team and you train them properly, most of your barriers have been overcome.
So I did a how to recruit your next team member training that is really a masterclass in getting the right people on board. Because I’ve refined and refined and refined that system over hundreds of hundreds of hires over decades. That is a good training.
In terms of general leadership, there’s lots of popular names out there like John Maxwell, and Warren Bennis and Simon Sinek. Go and have a look. You know what I do? When I got promoted to salesperson, I went and bought seven books on selling and read them all in one weekend. When I got promoted to sales manager, I went and bought seven books on sales management, and I read them all in one weekend. And one of the ones that stands out for me was The One Minute Manager by Blanchard. That may be slightly out of date, but there’s still some amazing principles if you’re brand new to this. And it’s something worth doing right.
Leadership is really the critical skill which without it, you cannot scale. You won’t scale your business unless you’re a good leader, or you won’t scale it and keep the business unless you’re a good leader. It’s absolutely the critical factor in scale. Going from six to seven figures, leadership is a major, major piece of that puzzle.
