James Schramko here with today’s tip. It’s about getting the best performance from your team, and this one thing you absolutely must do. Please, pay your team on time, every time, or early. Nothing will make a team member more upset than not getting paid. They’ve done the work, that’s the deal, pay them. It surprises me how many people I find out are not paying their team members, and it is not good practice.
If you’re paying someone overseas or there’s a currency transfer involved or there’s time for someone to remove their money from PayPal and put it into their bank account, allow extra days. I always pay my team early so they can have the money in their account by the time of the due date, and early if possible. And I’ve been doing that as long as I’ve been an employer, and I’m giving my team no reason they’d want to go and work somewhere else.
If you’re paying your team late, you’re skating on thin ice. Don’t do it.
