Two people for every task. In our business, we call it the Noah Principle. What principle? That’s it. We’re locking this in. It’s just simply two people, two people can do every task. Because if my one person who does the task leaves tomorrow, guess who’s going to be doing it again? It’s going to be me.
And the reality is for a lot of things that happen in my business, I don’t even know how to do it because I switched from how to who. That’s right. But as long as someone in the business knows, I don’t care. So how do we check it? List every task that happens in your business down one column and then put in another column, everyone in your business’s name whether they’re contractors or full-time, it doesn’t matter. Then put a little check in the box. Who knows how to do that?
This is how I teach SilverCircle customers to protect themselves. We call this avoiding single-point sensitivity. It could be called redundancy. But it’s basically making sure that if you’ve got a task that only one person knows, terrible things are going to happen to you. Sort of things like, Hey, I need a pay rise or I’m out of here. Like if you have only one person and they do the tasks and you don’t want to do it or you don’t know how to do it, and you’re faced with the inconvenience of having to rehire someone or retrain someone, then you have just suffered the syndrome which we call compromise. So you want to remove compromise from your business.
Do a Noah register. And just make sure that every single task in your business is covered by two people and, ideally, not you.
