James Schramko here, and you know what’s different between a solopreneur and a real business? I’ll share it with you.
Now, solopreneur is, I’m sure if you look up in the dictionary, it would just say working really, really hard in a job-like existence that you may be able to call your own business. But it’s not really. It’s just a job. Solo means you by yourself. If you want to build a team, you’re going to need systems. And SYSTEMs you could think of as an acronym. Saves You Stress Time Energy and Money. And you need systems.
Now, what is a system? A system is a way of dealing with things that you handle more than once. It could be as simple as a piece of paper with a checklist on it for a way that you would handle a sales call or the way that someone might handle support inquiries for your business, and that’s how I started scaling my business.
And once you build a little team and perhaps it’s online, you might create some Standard Operating Procedures called SOPs and you put them in an online file storage device. It could be Google, could be Drive, could be some kind of platform like Trello or it could be Slack. Anything that is consistent and that you could share between people. Build your SOP library, create systems, and from that, you can get scale and you can elevate yourself away from that job-like solopreneur into a more aspirational business that’s leveraged with a team.
