As a recruitment business, which I have with my wife, we have hired hundreds and hundreds of people over the years. The biggest variable is not the supply source. It’s not really the team members. It’s primarily the leader.
Some people are nightmare leaders. I see the tickets, I see the questions, and I hear the feedback from candidates who may leave or whatever, and they’re just working in horrific conditions. So that’s the main variable.
So yes, I’ve had a good run with the Philippines, but the biggest variable was me. And, of course, I had a good supply source in the very beginning. And that’s the other problem. Even if you’re a great leader, if you have crappy supply, you’ll never turn that supply into a great team.
However, a really great leader would identify that the supply is crappy in the first place. So it’s kind of still that ultimate responsibility falls to the employer.
