I was on a call this week with a guy who’s been in the industry for a long time, like decades. And he’s been running a three-times-a-year 25K group mastermind thing. That’s the typical standard type of event. I think they come from Dan Kennedy. And he was telling me that people actually really now enjoy meeting virtually. And it was a surprise for him. And he asked me what I thought about it.
I said, you know what the funny thing is, I told him about six or seven years ago about how SilverCircle works, which is a virtual global program where people meet online every week, which is now what SuperFastBusiness Intensive does.
I’ve known for 10 years, people like to meet virtually, that they don’t need to go to this three-times-a-year, in-person event. The big takeaway here is, whatever the industry norm is, whatever the industry standard is, it’s probably old school. It’s probably the old way. And it’s probably there’s a better way to do it. There are already people out there who have been doing a better way, probably for 10 years. You should spend some time or energy thinking about what they might be doing or trying and testing different things like I did back then.
When living in Australia, it just wasn’t practical to have an in-person mastermind to draw people from Europe, or the United States, and Australia and Asia and New Zealand, to bring in these internationals. I had one of the early, truly international programs that got people better results. The fact is, if you come to a group call every single week, you’re going to get a way better result than doing all your homework the night before, a three-times-a-year in-person 25k group where you get the same people who are in the same sort of regional market, and it gets really stale.
So innovate, do something different. Whatever the market is doing, try something different. That’s why I don’t do big launches, why I don’t have affiliates, why I don’t do lives all the time. Putting out little videos and running podcasts has been my thing, and doing my membership differently than the way people teach. I don’t just open up once or twice a year.
