James Schramko here. Let’s share an idea about getting a multiple payoff from a single effort.
This is what I like about videos and podcasts and websites and autoresponders (that is emails that get sent in a sequence). These are things that you can do one time and then they get leveraged over and over and over again.
People are still listening to podcasts that I did almost 10 years ago. People are watching videos that I made in the past especially in my membership, SuperFastBusiness Membership, and SilverCircle. I often point my students to a training that I did last month or three months ago that I actually sat down and prepared in a Keynote presentation and recorded but can be viewed by members in the future over and over. It’s one reason I record my events and publish them inside my memberships because that one-time event takes a little bit of effort. I market the event, I sell tickets, people come, we meet up, we have a fantastic time, we have drinks, a chat. We watch some fantastic presentations. They get recorded and now I have product, and that product can be used over and over again. We get really good experts and someone else can watch that in five years’ time and still get some fantastic information from it.
Some of the topics we cover are absolutely timeless. For example, my next event I’m going to be talking about work less and make more, and this topic will not go away. It’s going to be there in five years. So think about this: how can you leverage the efforts that you’re doing? Even when I’m a guest on someone else’s podcast, I run a recorder in the background from my side of the conversation and when we’re finished, I ask someone in my team to have a listen to the recording and to make some bullet points for me so that I can turn that into a presentation or perhaps a podcast for my own show. Or maybe it could be the subject of ten separate videos like this one you’re watching right now. So that is leverage and that’s leverage with the team and it’s leverage with that one-time thing.
So think about all the activities you’re doing and maybe score them. Are they one-time activities or are they activities that could be leveraged over and over? If you ever do a Keynote presentation, record it, put it into your membership or do the same Keynote presentation for seven different places around the world which is something that I’ve done. I do one on teams and it’s been very popular. Companies like Mindvalley, GoToWebinar, and Ryan Levesque, Ezra Firestone, these companies have all asked me to present that topic so that one Keynote gets refined and refined and it’s been recorded and put into my membership so that other business owners can benefit from it.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this insight. Let me know if you’ve got any questions or comments around it. How can you leverage the single activities you’re doing now into the future?
