James Schramko here. Today, I want to talk to you about the seasonal nature of business.
If we look to farmers, we know that they recognize there is a time to plant seeds, there is a time to tend the crops, and there is a time to harvest. And beyond all of that, you actually have to rest the fields occasionally. So, if you’re feeling pressured or built up because you’re not tracking to your goals, or you just feel like this high-pressure system who, you’re trying to do all these things, but you don’t feel into it, maybe don’t force yourself.
Maybe it’s the season cycle where you’re having some time off. Maybe you should just sit back for a while and enjoy the fruits of what you’ve already created. Or, if you really hate it, then it might be time to sell off some of your business divisions or let go of some of your projects, in much the same way as a harvest would occur. And I’ve found these seasons are really interesting in my own career progression.
There are times where I’ve just felt like I’ve wanted to set the world on fire, I want to achieve all this stuff, and I feel very active, I want to do things. And then there are other times where I just want to coast, I just want to surf every day, I want to do my calls, I want to get the things done, but just maintain the system. And then of course in the past, I’ve sold off business units where I just don’t feel like I want them anymore, and I’ve harvested those and got the rewards for it.
So, what season are you in now? That’s the big question. Are you aware of it? And perhaps you can give yourself a little bit of time off if you feel like you’re overcooked, over-pressured, and you’re just not hitting your goals. Maybe they’re not that important after all.
I’m James Schramko, speak to you soon.
