James Schramko here, and I’m down at Manly Beach. I’m going to show it to you in just a second. You can see that the water is very flat, but the forecasting apps are showing that the swell is going to be picking up today and then it’ll be really big tomorrow. And this thought occurred to me: I reckon the average surfer spends more time looking at lead metrics for the surfing outlook than the average business owner does for their business.
So, what sort of lead metrics could you look at in your business to see what the forecast is looking like? You could look at things like how much content you’re producing. You could look at how many people are arriving in the first stage of your email sequence. These are indicators of the sales that are coming in the future. So, I encourage you, set up a reporting tracking mechanism and make sure you keep an eye on the numbers, just like a surfer does on the surf forecast.
