This is a slow-growth approach that I’ve taken. A lot of times I could be tempted to push it with advertising, to jam in a few more OTOs (one-time offers) and upsells and to send aggressive, forceful emails, prodding people to take action, to scale up massively, to create very complex systems, to run webinars every day.
I know there are guys out there who are doing some pretty reasonable numbers, let’s say six figures in a month, but they also work like 100 hours a week. And that’s not what I chose. So that’s why I said, be very specific about what it is that you want. Because if you’re not clear on that, you might end up with something you don’t like. Like Henry Ford, who wanted to build a factory that could build 1000 cars a day and ended up hating it. He built this, basically, this human work machine that he hated and he was a miserable man, at some point. I’ve watched this great documentary about him. So really care about what you want.
I wanted to make Grange because that’s what was instilled in me with my previous employer who was a nut-job but had some valid points. And it’s those tough challenges that shape you and then form your outcomes. So, my best advice is don’t take a short-term approach to this, take a long-term approach. This is a long game. When I came into the internet eight years ago, the gurus then, I’d say a huge proportion of them have faded away or done terrible business models and fallen off a cliff.
And now there are not that many people that I could name who I would admire and respect for having built an amazing business and kept growing in a sustained way. But this is the snowflake at the top of the mountain that turns into a snowball that by the time it reaches the bottom of the mountain, it could take out an entire village. This thing grows with momentum.
