Just how effective are social media videos in driving traffic to your website and generating sales for your business?

And these videos I’ve been doing for a couple of years now. I certainly did them a long time ago, and it was harder back then. We used to have fancy cameras and lights. And the editing process was difficult. Even streaming them was hard. Now, social media has made it incredibly easy to make these videos.
Just on an iPhone, which is all I’m using to make this. I’m not even using an external microphone. So the quality of the cameras, the availability of social media networks, the enhancement of us having small teams now who can be a little publishing army, like my amazing team who will take this video and put it everywhere for me, is a long way from where it was when I started doing this.
So for the last couple of years, I’ve been making videos like this. I talked about it on a recent episode I did at SuperFastBusiness, on the podcast episode 749. I was talking about using social videos and how that’s evolved and what it’s doing for my business. I had a special guest, David Kilkelly, he is a lovely guy. He’s been doing a lot of this. He was actually the first person who told me I should put captions on my LinkedIn videos. And LinkedIn has been a surprise platform for me for my videos.

And I’m talking big results. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars, we’re talking about not needing to be dependent on a Facebook agency to run ads to run my business. Just through the podcast and short videos, we can do just fine. We’ve added other things, of course, like search engine optimization. And we’re now starting to run some ads. Like we’ve had some previous guests talking about running ads. And as we build this, our machine just gets more and more interesting. But I think the immediacy of these videos, the fact that you can just hit record, talk to the camera and then put it out there where people are consuming, when most people right now are spending a lot more time at home, they’re spending a lot more time on social media and you can get in front of them either for free, or you can buy traffic and you can do it with an iPhone, I think that’s about the most exciting thing ever.
