James Schramko here. I want to share with you a way that you can really get your point across in an easy way for the other person to understand.
In the past, I used to just give the answer when someone asked a question. I would know the answer and I’ll just give the answer. And it was great! What I do now is, I think of an example or a story that I relay. And often the lesson of the story is easier to consume and makes the point even better. So I will share the story.
Let’s say someone says, I’m not sure what to do in this scenario such and such has happened. I might say, okay so a few years back when I was doing blah blah blah, we had this situation come up and here’s what happened and then that happened and the outcome was blah blah blah. And the point was I really learnt the lesson of X. So by telling the story, we’re engaging we’re getting an easy to consume information piece, and then we back it up and reinforce it with the point. And I found, since I used these small stories or metaphors or case studies or most of the time it’s a real-life example of something that actually happened to me, which is one thing I do bring to the table is lots of real-world experience. It really brings home the point of the story.
