How do you build a quality list that will deliver a fantastic profit for your business? Hi, I’m James Schramko. And recently I got asked on a monthly Q&A call which we hold every month inside SuperFastBusiness membership, how do you build a quality list? I want you to listen in to my answer in a moment.
And I also want to mention, I recently just put together a training in October 2020, called How to Build a Profitable Email List that’s now inside Superfastbusiness membership. So if you want to learn how to build a really profitable email list, even without having a huge list, this training will be worth the entry price. Enjoy my answer.
So don’t worry, you don’t need a huge list to make lots of money, which is good. I’m living proof of that. I think we have 7000 email addresses, which after a decade, people would think that’s pretty poor. But I actually only ever started taking email addresses from buyers. I didn’t even worry about prospects in the beginning. The first two or three years, the only email addresses I had were people who purchased something.
When you say list, this is important. It’s more than just an email list these days. You can define a list as a way that you could reach someone. So keep in mind, what I’ve been doing is building subscriber bases in multiple areas. I’ve got a Pushcrew subscriber base, I’ve got a Messenger subscriber base, YouTube subscribers, iTunes subscribers, fan pages, Twitter, Instagram followers. So beyond just the email, think about the multiple channels that you’re operating in. Every time you post content, you’re building up your fan base. So that’s one thing.
In terms of how to collect the emails, it’s simply giving a resource that’s valuable. And if the in person is the high-value conversion event then I would lean towards videos, and I would offer a free video training series. And I will collect emails in order to deliver that three-part series over three emails. And then from there, you can send them your weekly news. So that’s what I do.
We’d have a free profit leverage course and then I keep sending every podcast we publish, which is these days two a week. Other things that work well are cheat sheet, a challenge, make sure that you have an easy place to refer people to for that opt-in. You might pick an easy op- in or URL that is a dedicated squeeze page. And remember you can also market, upload your audience to Facebook and try and get a lookalike audience to expand upon people who might be similar to your prospect. And think about if Messenger might be a good medium for you, because of the fact that almost all your customers are likely to be using it and it’s a very personal medium.
