I just had to share this with you. Today, we had a repair person come to repair a broken hot water system. And the guy came early. He had all the parts, which he got from the picture that I sent him the day before. He came the very next day from when I called, I called him in the afternoon. He fixed it quickly. It worked and he charged me a very low amount.
And the reason this is significant is right now in Australia, 11 million people are in lockdown. Only emergency repairs can be done. And most tradespeople are either having time off, surfing or spending time at home or doing emergency repairs for higher rates. And the reason I thought this was extraordinary, is I had the exact opposite experience with an electrician who I dealt with last year, who was always late, constantly forgot parts, charged too much. And the work was faulty and had to be redone.
So it just comes to mind here, you know, like one of the differentiators in business is just doing good work. Be good. People are ready to be let down. They’re ready to have a bad experience because so many people out there are not doing the right thing. If you do a good job, then you will get more business.
Now this plumber that I had this morning, I actually had him on a previous job and he did the same thing. He came early, had the parts, was fast and the work was really well-priced. So I called him back. And I will continue to call this plumber back as often as I possibly can. And hopefully that’s not very often. But if I ever have plumbing work in Sydney, this guy is doing the job.
So there’s my little story. I wanted to share that. It’s not that hard. Just do a really good job and you will get so much referral business. Here I am making a video about this. It’s so exceptional from a tradesperson after being let down on the prior one.
