What if you don’t have the budget for paid traffic? And you don’t want to ask those benign questions on social media? How can you get traffic to your offer? That’s what someone asked me recently. And I gave them an answer that included nine traffic channels other than paid traffic or social media. What follows here is my answer to the question.
What if you don’t want to buy a lot of paid traffic and you don’t want to do the social media thing? What options do you have? I got asked this one recently in SuperFastResults. I think it’s a good question to cover while you think of your question. So the answer is, you’ve still got lots of other things.
You’ve got search engine optimization, content, marketing, referrals, podcasts, speaking, a book, joint ventures, affiliate marketing, PR, and groups.
Now with search engine optimization, that can be pretty solid. It is for me, and over time, your assets are going to build a lot of organic traffic. The referrals business model, I mean, that’s amazing. SilverCircle has been fueled by referrals for over 10 years. No ads, just word of mouth, getting good results for people.
Podcast, pretty easy to do once set up. A bit of a pain to set up. It’s a crowded marketplace but over time, you can build a great audience that converts well. It certainly has for me. Being a guest on other people’s podcasts is faster and easier than having your own podcast and it gets more reach, especially initially. So start with that.
Speaking is good. If you can get in front of someone else’s audience that’s exactly right for you. Obviously, live speaking, face-to-face, not such a big thing in 2020. But you can certainly do it virtually, there’s all sorts of virtual opportunities.
Books, bit of work, a bit of expensive. But once you’ve got them, you can sell them on Amazon, you can run ads on Amazon, you get lots of eyeballs there. You can drive it up with the paid stuff, but it’s self-fueling. So if you don’t want to do the Facebook ads, you could do Amazon ads. You don’t even have to do ads, you just need good reviews and a good book. Put a call to action and away you go. Now I’ve sold heaps of books on Amazon.
But JVs are another good one. I used to do that a lot. I do it for other people and you only pay on success. So that’s like, you know, only if you make a sale do you pay someone. It’s very scalable. So some people I know have got an affiliate program, it just takes off. For example, a lot of people buy 10XPRO because I promote 10XPRO and I’ve got the audience for the 10XPRO platform. That leaves John, the founder of 10XPRO, to focus on making the best damn tool in the market. So if you have a nice little affiliate product that could go well, affiliates are a marketing effort and expense if you want to go down that path. And there are certainly some downsides and things you’re going to watch. But it’s good if you don’t want to do the other things. It’s good if you could find someone who’s got your audience and just get in front of them. Even if it’s just a paid group or a mastermind or a forum.
Get in front of a group. There’s plenty of people doing business out of SuperFastBusiness, for example. They put a signature link, they have something that other members want, they talk with their knowledge and authority that shows they’re clearly good at what they do. They post successes about the results they get that others would like to get, and they get in touch with them.
And I’m often cross-pollinating the audience between each other. With PR, you can get a great flood of traffic if you have a newsworthy piece. You’ve got to have something newsworthy. Paid groups are amazing. I’ve done so well out of those. And forums. Facebook groups can be good, just don’t spend all your life there, because it’s very addictive. Anyway, I hope that helps.
