Six reasons why you must take WebTV seriously.
First of all, you can reach a global audience. Up until now, traditional TV networks limit you to just the country that they broadcast in. So, you think about the TV networks here, they can only broadcast within the confines of Australia. We can broadcast anywhere in the world. There’s no limit because of the internet.
Second, there’s no schedule because we don’t need it. People can watch our content on-demand. If you watch a traditional TV show, you’ve either got to record it, which is a bit of a hassle or show up and watch it at the time that they want you to watch it. We don’t have to do that with Internet TV because it’s on-demand. The person presses play when they are ready.
Number three, we’re able to target niche markets. As I said, with the example of wildlife photography, you cannot do that type of show. You can’t have a show for plumbers. You can’t have a show for chiropractors. You can’t have a show for any industry on traditional TV, but guess what? Online, you absolutely can.
And here’s the most exciting thing about that is, when people are presented with a choice, you can either watch the news on traditional TV or you could watch if you’re a plumber, the news for plumbers or the news for chiropractors or the news for any other industry, or a topic that relates to a passion or a hobby. Guess what people choose when they’re given that choice? They choose the things that are most important to them, the topics that they are passionate about. That’s why WebTV is experiencing such explosive growth. So whatever your industry, if you take baby photographs, you can’t do a show about that on TV! Guess what? On the internet, you can and you can get a lot of people watching that type of show.
Number four, there’s no annoying commercials. People hate commercials. And if you’re watching live TV, there’s no choice. You have to suffer through it or go and put the kettle on or something. Not so with WebTV.
Number five, low production costs. There is no comparison. I used to work in traditional TV and some of the shows that I worked on cost between half a million and a million pounds per episode. Have you ever seen the big long list of scrolling credits at the end of a show? That’s a lot of people that get paid. And it’s a very inefficient industry, very inefficient. But guess what if we’re doing it ourselves, we can get started for a couple of hundred dollars. That’s it.
And lastly, we have the ability to interact with the audience and they can interact with us. We cannot do that through the TV. So if we watch a WebTV show that we really like, we like the personality, we’re engaged, we can connect with other fans and we can connect with the presenter of that show. We can talk directly to the presenter of the show which increases engagement and increases people wanting to watch the show.
So there’s no question about it that you can make a lot of money from your own WebTV show. You can become famous in your own niche, even be treated as a celebrity. I’ve been flown all around the world in first-class over the last years. I get invitations all the time to speak at different events. And I love travel, so it’s a great thing. And if you like speaking there’s no shortage of speaking opportunities because nothing positions you as a celebrity, credible expert. other than or like a WebTV show.
