James Schramko here. Today, I want to share with you an interesting fact about offshore teams that might help you be more effective with your business.
You live in a Western society, you’re watching this video, you have a business, you’re an entrepreneur. That’s a pretty typical scenario and a lot of these businesses like yours and mine are hiring people overseas.
Now, what I’ve noticed about some of these cultures is often an employee or a contractor will default to cheap if there’s a choice. If there’s a choice between an expense or free, they’ll usually pick free even if it takes more time, even if it’s less effective.
So, I encourage you, look into your systems and processes and question, what tools and resources are you using? How did they get to that? And why do we use that? And is there a paid alternative that can get you a faster result?
A classic example would be the kind of tools that are available to do transcriptions these days. There are paid accurate services that can really leverage your team rather than the free manual way of having your team member actually transcribe it word for word.
That’s just one example but there’s so many of these. I use little services and external contractors to help my team and tools of course to automate things to fast-track things. That way, my little team can actually get the output of a really big team for just a little bit of extra investment and wise investment.
So that’s what I suggest you do. Have a look inside your business and see what could you speed up, leverage, or take advantage of if you were to upgrade. Could you help your team members have faster internet? Could you get them better hardware? Could you use a tool to help them do something they’re doing manually?
I hope this has been helpful. I look forward to speaking with you with the next tip.
