– Tired of false promises
– Biggest challenge as an Internet marketer
– Have you got a question?
– The right place to kickstart your business
– A complete transformation
Suellen: I had a global career, first of all, in human resources and after that, I found myself in London and joined the management consultancy firm. So I was a management consultant for about 10 years.
I had a child, I wanted to spend time with him. I knew I was only having one so I wanted to be around for him as much as I could, but I knew that I couldn’t be a stay-at-home mom.
James: When I first saw Suellen post in the SuperFastBusiness community, it was a skeptical post. I think Suellen was burned out by other marketers making promises.
Suellen: The biggest challenges for me were feeling that I could give advice to clients about Internet marketing when I wasn’t a technical person myself. I couldn’t tell them how to develop a website. So I often would go through feelings of self-doubt, thinking “Can I really give advice?”
And then I got into SuperFastBusiness forum, I realized, no matter what question you’ve got, you can go to that community and someone will have the answer for you.
The first live event that I went to was such an eye-opener for me because for the first time I was in a room with what felt like hundreds of people and everyone was talking about this online marketing, Internet marketing… And I just felt that I’d found the right place to be to kickstart my business.
And James’ events are not pitchfests. The quality of the information and the speakers, you want to go and find out who they are and look at their sites and get their material which is so good, but they absolutely are not up there, either on stage or back at the room pitching and I love that.
James: Suellen was able to find lots of examples of people who are in other niches making actual money. And then Suellen went on to be a successful business person, certainly in the business consulting world. A complete transformation actually from her previous field.
Suellen: I feel like he does really care about his community. He’s done lots of other things for me, personally and with the business, and I’m forever grateful for that. He doesn’t just talk his stuff – this is his life and his business. And that’s one of the things that is really different for me. He’s not a fly-by-nighter. This is what he does for a living.
James: I feel satisfied that Suellen’s been successful because I know when she came into the community, this might have been the last chance she had.
Suellen: To be honest, without James and the services that he provides, I wouldn’t have a business. I’m not travelling like I used to do in corporate, I’m not away for weeks at a time. I choose how and when I work, rather than someone else dictating that for me.
