James Schramko here with an Internet marketing news update.
Big welcome to all of the SuperFastResults members who have come across this week SuperFastBusiness is now almost up to 400 members, so I’m really proud of that milestone and the communication’s going back and forth between members. It’s fantastic! Let’s talk about some of the topics this week.
What sort of live chat system should you put on your website?
I use LiveChatInc, I like it because it allows us to integrate our message system to Zendesk Help desk, so people can come to our site and if we’re not there then they can leave a message and it pushes a ticket straight to Zendesk and we get messages every day. But it also shows us where people came from before they got to our site and I can watch people on the site moving around even when it’s not switched on, just when we have the viewing station open, so it’s a really good scalable and flexible system even if you’ve never use a live chat function you can get a lot more of these offline messages pushing to your helpdesk and if you have services or information products that’s a great way to get more sales.
The other thing that can work really well is just put a Skype button on your website, if you’re going to be near on your computer and you have Skype on, you can actually take phone calls. You can still talk to customers by integrating Skype and your mobile phone and the other thing you can do is have a Skype In number. Of course you can go to voicemail if you have that on your phone, so if you’re not on Skype you’re not on your phone you can still do the pre-recorded call thing.
Minimize loss in currency conversions
Let’s talk multi-currency, a lot of people are needing multi-currency, I actually sell things in Australian dollars and US dollars and where you can actually get some big efficiencies is when you work out where your transferring those funds, now I collect in PayPal in whatever currency people pay me it tends to stay in PayPal in that currency, when I want to draw down into Australian dollars, I actually lose quite a little bit on the way through. For example a 100,000 US dollars will very quickly turn into 95,000 Australian dollars, so 5,000 just disappears with both the exchange rate and the currency differentiation.
What I do with my foreign exchange account is when I receive US dollars to my credit card facility, it stays in US dollars and then I get to speak to a broker and decide when to bring it back to Australian dollar currency. So my main point is this, if you’re handling multiple currencies, speak to your bank, speak to your merchant facility and figure out the best way to handle that currency in terms of timing, so that you can actually play the right exchange rates and then when you do exchange that you get the best market rates available to you. Over several hundred thousand dollars or several million dollars it’s going to work out to be considerable savings, it could be 50, 60, a hundred thousand dollars a year in just exchange rates or fees, so it’s worth putting attention to as soon as you start getting reasonable volume for your business.
Getting ready for the SilverCircle Live event
Alright, so why am I filming indoors this week? In just a few weeks I’m having an event here in the lab, this huge white board here is 3.5 meters long, it’s about as long as a car. I’m going through the whole setup of SuperFastBusiness.com, how it came to be, how these videos go out every few days, how they get transcribed, how we get original pictures, how we syndicate them to Pinterest, iTunes, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook how we back them up with sponsored stories and posts, how we set up re-marketing cookies, how we follow up people around with banners, how that converts into orders with goal tracking, the equipment I used to do this, the strategy behind it, the results to date.
You’ll see that we’ve hit nearly 20,000 views on YouTube in just the last few months. You’ll see that our subscription list has grown. The way that is been growing very strategic, very relevant and very segmented. So I’m going through my new strategy and my way of handling traffic.
Aside from a full day with me and dinner, you’ll also get one full month of access to me with weekly follow-up calls in the Silver Circle mastermind group. You get access to that forum and the other members and I’m going to help to make sure that you implement everything we talk about; I’m going to personalize the strategy for your business.
This is going to be a very small workshop, the first three people to book were people who have come to my last workshop, they see such value that they just come back. This is the 4th one that I have ever held but, it’s the first time it’s open to the public. So if you want to get into Silver Circle go to SilverCircle.com to book your workshop spot. I will close the workshop when we reach our number.
Getting Long Tail Traffic
In SuperFastBusiness this week, we were talking about long tails. You’ll notice that each of these posts on SuperFastBusiness.com is actually fully transcribed now the words in that post are bringing me huge amounts of traffic on all sorts of phrases that I don’t actually go and research, I just talk and the words that we use are the most relevant search words. If I wanted to use a word that I thought would bring traffic I would actually say it like, how to get long tail traffic customer to your website. See, I’ve just said that so know it would be transcribed word for word and people looking for “how to get long tail traffic coming to your website” will actually see that if they search in Google, it will probably rank 1st in Google for that phrase, just because I put it in the post.
But another good reason to do transcriptions aside from getting long tail traffic is because some people prefer to read, some people will watch my video, some people will listen to it in iTunes and other people will read the post and I think this has increased my ability to reach more customers by putting it into multiple modalities, so learn from that do what I’m doing in SuperFastBusiness and I’m pretty sure that in 2 months from now, if you chip away at it putting out good content every few days or every week by relevant topics. You’ll get your audience and they will resonate they’ll make comments and they’ll buy things and they’ll stay subscribed to your list.
YouTube Player Opt-in
Now, speaking of subscriptions to the list, you may notice that on my videos now at the end of the video there’s a prompt to enter your details to subscribe to my free news. Now, if you came to this post because you are already on my customer lists you don’t need to enter your details again. But, if you are watching this video because you found my post through the search engines or iTunes and you’re not a subscriber and you see that, then you could add your details and I will send you emails.
Now, we’ve already had people saying “What is that? That’s so cool! I want to do that for my videos.” It’s great because it makes a nice clean YouTube player and it’s not offensive and you get to ask for it after people have watched the video in my case. You can put it before or half-way through but I like putting it at the end.
Look in the notes of this post that I’ll put a link to my review on how I get that opt-in player working on my videos. In fact, on SuperFastBusiness.com, I’ve just put out a post showing you how I installed it on my own site and how effective it is for bringing me extra leads. I can tell you my email subscriptions have gone up immediately from installing this.
We’ll I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s tips and if you haven’t already joined SuperFastBusiness.com as a subscriber, enter your details right now at the end of this video, it’s going to pop up right here and you can put your details in it. I’m going to send you video updates like this every week.

Enjoyed the post, what software do you use to record your videos and do you use a transcribing service?
Cheers
Jeff
Jeff I use Screenflow to record screencasts and a Canon 60D camera to record face to camera videos. I edit them all in Screenflow. I highly recommend ScreenFlow for Mac users. If I were using PC I would se Camtasia.
Hi James
I’ve just started using Viewbix to add apps to my videos which also includes an email subscribe function. Currently running at $7/month.
