Alexi: Hello!
James: You may know Alexi because he spoke at SuperFastBusiness Live. But he’s a world-famous copywriter and he runs a business called Fubbi.co. And Alexi, I just asked you to share a top copywriting tip and you told me one that is similar to eating vegetables. So what’s your tip?
Alexi: Yeah, the advice is do your research. And it’s similar to eating vegetables because nobody wants to eat their vegetables. But likewise, you need to, and you need to do your research because that is the core secret, the first critical step to creating compelling copy that actually converts.
James: Right. So if you engage a copywriter or you’re trying to do your own copy, and you haven’t done the research or they’re not doing the research or asking you the right questions, asking you for analytics, asking to speak to your clients, asking for your ASK surveys, then that would be a sign that maybe they’re skipping a critical step.
Alexi: Yeah, you almost want to get impatient with them because they’re asking for so much background material. You want to start to get a little bit frustrated that you’re asking yourself, are they actually going to start this job? If you get to that point, you probably found yourself a good copywriter.
