James: James Schramko here. Today, John Lint from 10XPRO.io and I are going to share a tip on how you can accelerate the results you get for any new project you do.
Good day, John!
John: Hey! Hey, everybody. How are you?
James: Good. So we’re talking about a technique that’s ages old in the copywriting world. And some students have gotten on to this. Lots of people who are experts, even my local surfboard shaper uses this technique.
John: All right.
James: And that is, to keep on hand a template file of work so that you can quickly accelerate a job using known templates. And in the copywriting world, they call it a swipe file. In my world, I’ve got a master life sheet, which is a Google document which has got an index and tabs. And I actually record checklists and frameworks for anything that I do. Even if it’s making videos like this, so I can just hand it over to the team, get help with it and fast track it. Even these videos we do often use a formula, which is a handy, tried and tested formula that we use over and over and over again.
So, how have you seen templates and checklists help people who are coming to your software 10XPRO.io, trying to put together a course, or a membership for the first time?
John: Yeah, it’s actually very, very, very important. I call it, you know, building your own swipe box. And the box can be a folder on your computer. It can be a folder on a Dropbox account, or on Google Drive. Wherever you want, it doesn’t matter the technology.
But I like to have a folder on my computer or in a hard drive or online, obviously, where I’m going to collect a lot of information. Because the most important thing that you should do at the very beginning when you are investigating a market, you know, we talked about this before, you need to find out and discover what are the pains, what do people want, but you also want to find out, what are others doing? What kinds of email are they writing? What are they saying in the email, the videos that they have maybe on their blog, on their YouTube account, or their sales video?
What I like to do, I subscribe to a bunch of other people, I get their emails. Whenever I get the email, I print it as PDF, and I save it in my swipe box, okay? And then because all of that is super valuable. It’s research, it’s marketing. They’re doing a good job, they’re going to be using hooks or special words, they’re going to say things in a specific way. They’re going to talk about and remind people about, hey, do you have this problem, right? And our job is all about solving problems. So if you are investigating your market, other players in your market, if they’re doing a good job, they will be doing everything that you need to do in the future.
So we talked about this in a previous video, about modeling what works, I like to also investigate what is happening in the market, what are other people doing. And by building your own swipe box, you can collect emails, like I said, you can collect prints, for example, sales pages. So if you go to someone else’s website, and he’s selling the product that is kind of similar to yours, well, print that entire web page, save it, analyze it, study it. Do the same thing with sales videos. You’re going to learn a lot about your market, things that you probably didn’t even know about.
And I like to do that with, you know, almost everything like maybe Facebook accounts, Facebook group. Conversations are happening, maybe I see a comment on their YouTube video of someone that says, Hey, I’m really struggling with this. All of that is very valuable things that you can use in your own copy, whenever you’re developing your own courses, as well, because he’s telling you, hey, we want to know more about this, we are struggling with this. Can someone please solve that problem? And your job is just to do that, solving those problems and creating products that will sell and you know that you will sell if you do a good job by making sure that you’re answering all these questions, and that you are providing the fastest solution to solve the problems that your market is having.
So building that swipe box is step number one, and it’s something that you want to do as soon as possible whenever you’re entering any market. And that’s how we help our 10XPRO.io members create those online courses, create what you call, James, create an offer that converts, right? Maximize your chances of making sure that your market will want to buy that thing right now.
James: And you’ve been collecting these for so long, and you put them all together and broken them down into simple steps that someone can easily follow. Even if they don’t have a swipe box, they can just borrow yours.
John: Right.
James: What’s the name of the course that we have together, where you can go and learn how to create your first course from scratch?
John: It’s called onlinecoursesystem.com.
Simply go there, you get access to a free workshop where we basically, we’re going to teach you that. And that course is all about everything that you need to know about how to create, how to launch, how to build massive anticipation for your online course, and then how to open the doors and maximize your chances of success. And then the last step is how to deliver an experience that your members will love. That way, you can get repeat buyers and it gets even more and more sales down the line. So onlinecoursesystem.com that you can find out all the information right there.
James: Perfect. So you get the best of John’s swipe box. John’s been through a lot of my material, which are extrapolated versions of my swipe file from my life sheet where I’ve put together trainings. We’ve sat laptop to laptop, we’ve put in the hard work. We floated across the Maldives together a few years in a row now.
John: Yeah, yeah.
James: And we’ve shared what’s working in our business and digested that down from a coal to a diamond. And now you can access that with the course.
It’s really always great to catch up, John. And I know that we’ve created something really good for customers to get a fast result. In that chaos and confusion, you no longer need to go and buy all these different courses and all these bits and pieces of software. It’s all in one place now. We can learn how it works, get the tools you need and get the support.
John: Awesome.
