I’m bored – this is another challenge we have as entrepreneurs. I know it sounds crazy when you’re in the middle of a, sort of, overwhelm cyclone. But I deal with people who actually fixed all their problems, and then they get bored.
And the first thing they want to do is add something else because that’s what we do. It’s our habit. Celebrate lack of drama. This is something one of my mentors taught me. And I’ve actually got to my computer and everything’s done and there’s actually nothing to do. And because I’ve got a rule of I don’t sit down to my computer unless I know what I want to do. That’s like a fundamental rule of productivity, do not sit in front of a computer, unless I’ve got an objective. And then my reward for completing that, then I can open up a tab on social media or whatever or Instagram. That’s my reward.
But it’s OK to just do nothing. When your kid says, Oh, Dad, I’m bored. Say, Oh, you are so blessed because most of our population is run off their feet, they’re overloaded. They’re craving some time off, some downtime. If you’re fortunate enough to have downtime or time off in your life, then revel in it. Just soak it up.
So I’ve got a beanbag. It’s not full of beans, it’s got foam. They call it a cloud, but it’s like a little oasis. I can just sit in that and just meditate or read a Kindle and just chill with zero guilt because everything that needs to be done is done.
