As your knowledge, experience and awereness increase, you can remove the layers of compromise that prevent you from being truly effective. The trick of course is to recognize the compromise in the first place. Some are obvious and others are not. Habits for example are based on assumptions.
Are you re-questioning those assumptions occasionally and replacing self limiting habits?

The onion is a great analogy. We all have layers we do not really own which means they come from false perceptions or fears. Look at those layers and cut them out thus encouraging new growth.
Like an onion we build layers of habits based on a few false assumptions causing unnecessary limits. That is the compromise. Over time we should go back and test all the assumptions that fomred the habits and see if they are still (or ever were) valid.
